Shirodhara Therapy

In Sanskrit. 'Shiro' means head, and 'Dhara' means flowing like a thread. First, the head,
neck, arms and hands are massaged. Next, a moist, heated stone is placed on the belly, bringing
vata home. Then, the legs and feet are massaged and a warm sand-bag is placed over the thighs to
ground the femurs into the hip-sockets. Finally, nasya is applied (oil in the nostrils, and warmed
ayurvedic oils are poured in a steady stream through a copper vessel over the crown and third eye.
